Tahmena Bokhari at the Vagina Monologues

Tahmena Bokhari (Mrs Pakistan World 2010) made a very special appearance at the first ever Vagina Monologues Play held in Vaughan, ON. After the play, Bokhari addressed the audience noting examples of women surviving violence from her experience as a social worker here and abroad. She applauded the performances of the women, the presence of the men supporters, and the special attendees from the local women's shelter and the Mayor of Vaughan.
Bokhari stated, "There is tremendous multilayered violence that has unfortunately become common norm for women in Pakistan. It is the responsibility of all citizens to be aware and speak out when the majority of the world's women are living on less than $2-3 a day and when even in a country like Canada there have been stats indicating that 1/3 of women experience sexual abuse."
Her main messages to the audience included to keep the voices of the women alive by talking about the play with friends in days ahead and remembering to honour the reputation Canadians hold around the world for humanitarianism.
